A war had broken out in Hyrule. In the middle of it was a women and her child. Trying to find safety the women took her and her child into the Kokari Forest, a sanctuary from the war. The women made a plea to the Great Deku Tree to let her child live in the forest as a Kokari. The Great Deku Tree lives with the children of the forest, the Kokari. Before the women died, the Great Deku Tree ensured the women that her child would be safe. The Deku Tree also sensed that this child was a child of destiny.
This child's name was Link. Link was brought up as all of the other Kokari for the the beginning years of his life. Link was accepted by a Kokari by most of the others except Mido, who refused to accept him at any cost because he said he was favored by Saria and by the Great Deku Tree. When Link was about ten years old he started having nightmares. They were of a man on a horse chasing a girl and an older women away from a castle. Little did he know they were preminitions of the times to come. One day the Great Deku Tree summoned for Link to talk about the preminitions of thiers.
