You will start by hearing a telepathic message from Zelda. Once it is finshed the lights will go on and your uncle will tell you he is going out and for you not to leave. Once he leave, being the good nephew you are, get out of bed and go to the treasure chest. Open it up and get the lamp. You can use the lamp to light up rooms! Now leave the house and go up one screen. Follow the path you see and go up the bridge to the castle. Now when you go up you should see a little path to the right follow it until you get to a bush blocking the path. Pick it up and throw it for a secret entrence to the castle garden!
Now you are inside the passage go left, you will see your wounded uncle. Talk to him and he will give you a sword and a shield and explain how to use the sword. Now continue down the hall and go through the door. Go right and kill the guards, open the chest and smash the pots . . . this should get you some rupees and magic. Now go back left and up the stairs and go out the door. You are now in the garden! Now make your way left to the front of the castle and enter.
Inside the Castle:
Go up and to the first door on the left. Now follow the carpet through the door and continue following it through another. When you come out continue right until you see stairs going down to a lower floor and take them. Now kill the blue guard for a key, the treasure chest has the map. Go down, forom here go down until you get to the path leading left and follow that. Now go left until you can see a door, and enter. Kill the guard and go right. Kill the blue guard for a key and the chest has the boomerang! This item will kill certain enemies and stun some others, you can use it to hit switches. A very useful item. Now leave back left and go up. Take the stairs in this room and go down. Go down again. In here kill the guard and then the big ball and chain guy for the Big Key. A good way to defeat the ball and chain guy is by using the boomerang, it stuns him giving you time to hit him. Repeat until he is defeated. Now you can open the princess' cell. Talk to her and she askes you to take her to the first floor, so go back the way you came to the first floor (1F). Now go right through the door and follow the red carpets. Now head to the back of the room. You should see stairs going to a higher floor. Take them. (2F) Now take the stiars infront of you to take you up a level in the room. Go to the back of the room, you will see a green ornamental shelf, go to the left side and push it right. Now you are on your way to the sanctuary.
